Frejus Thoto is from Benin, a West African country. In 2016, he co-founded DagriVest, a company that exists to tackle the multi-billion financing gap facing the agricultural sector in Africa by linking farmers and agribusinesses to ordinary citizens’ investments. Prior to that, he devoted most of his career to project management, business development and knowledge management. He coordinated several research-action projects funded by organizations like the United Nations, the European Union, the Canadian International Development Research Center, the French Global Environment Facility and The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research.
Furthermore, he is a World Bank certified expert on knowledge management (KM). He coordinated the establishment of the Network for Management of Agricultural Information, Communication and Knowledge in West and Central Africa (ReGICA) which is a network that promotes learning and sharing of agricultural knowledge. The KM model developed is being replicated in other regions of Africa. He also served as a Knowledge Management Expert for a joint USD 12 million intervention of the African Development Bank and The African Capacity Building Foundation that aims at promoting results culture for Africa's transformation.
Frejus studied agricultural economics with specialization in agricultural entrepreneurship and agribusiness. He is bilingual (French and English).
