Carlo Azzarri

Carlo is an economist and statistician with more than fifteen years of experience in microeconomic research, in addition to collection, implementation, supervision, and analysis of household and community survey microdata. He has conducted research and fieldwork activities in Africa south of the Sahara (SSA), Central America, and Eastern Europe. Before joining IFPRI, Carlo worked at the World Bank, FAO, UNICEF, and the African Development Bank where he was involved in agricultural development, poverty, and nutrition research, collaborating on several research projects and flagship publications. His interests include the relationships among poverty, nutrition, food security, agriculture, environment, production, and migration, analyzed both at the micro and macroeconomic level, through quantitative (statistical and econometric) and qualitative methods. Carlo is the IFPRI team leader of the largest Sustainable Agriculture Intensification program in SSA, where he also leads several Impact Evaluations of agricultural development interventions from multilateral development agencies.
