Rene Verduijn is a rural development and livelihoods expert with more than 20 years of working experience in the Humanitarian/ Development Nexus. Rene has gained valuable experience in governance issues, managerial leadership, policy formulation, strategy development and implementation, partnership, priority setting, negotiation, research and consensus building in a multilateral and multicultural environment.

He has solid experience as a multi-disciplinary team leader and process facilitator at global, regional, national and local levels. He has a strong technical background in vulnerability and resilience analysis and is an experienced implementer and evaluator of humanitarian actions and integrated rural development programs. He currently leads the FAO-Iraq country team from Baghdad in terms of sector coordination, programme development and Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis impact assessment, monitoring, and response.

Rene’s personal interests include developing Nexus strategies that focus on durable solutions and promoting women's socio-economic rights in rural development (rba).
