Valerie is a highly experienced Evaluation Team Leader with over 25 years directing and leading monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) on donor funded - FCDO (DFID, FCO), EU, UN (including UNOPS, WFP), USAID, World Bank and others - programmes focused on private sector development, economic growth, livelihoods, humanitarian, anti-corruption, governance reform, social protection and other sectors in transition economies, middle-income and developing countries.

Key areas of expertise include the following:

- Leadership and management of evaluation and learning activities, including complex portfolio evaluations of global and/or multi-sectoral programmes in a number of developing or middle income countries.
- Proficient in the conduct of formative, summative, process, performance and impact evaluations.
- Significant experience of evaluating capacity building interventions, resilience building programmes as well as other modalities including CBTs, etc.
- Experienced in the design and application of a range of M&E approaches and methodologies, including theory-based approaches, quasi-experimental designs and mixed methods data collection. Valerie is particularly proficient in qualitative data collection, quantitative data analysis, contribution analysis, process tracing, portfolio synthesis, as well as analysis and triangulation of evidence.
